The MICRO-4, 4-Watt motor has helped popularize ultra small electric powered free flight and continues to be a very popular system. It is a direct drive motor designed to run on two 50 mAh batteries and power 40-60 g. models having 50-70 sq. in. wing area. For slightly larger models, with 65-85 sq.in. of wing area, a 2-cell, 110 mAh battery pack more power for a longer time. Flight times of 2 -2.5 min. can be expected from a full charge.
The total system weight is 25-32 g. The MICRO-4 draws about 2 Amps at 2 Volts on the 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 prop and produces 15 g. of thrust. For propeller application the MICRO-4 is provided with an adapter using a #2-56 screw to retain the propeller. This makes the motor easier to enclose within the model while permitting use of other propeller types. Drill props to 0.89"diameter.
